Anglian Water investigating why River Witham in Grantham turned green
The River Witham turned green over the weekend, with scientists looking into the cause.
On Monday, Grantham resident Stacey Harwin Dobbin spotted that the River Witham had turned a bright shade of green.
She posted photos, taken from the white bridge, where the Mowbeck flows into the River Witham, in the Grantham Families Facebook group, advising people to keep their children and dogs out of the river.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said that the green discolouration was not related to one of their assets.
They said: “Following extensive investigations over the last few years, our teams have concluded that the green discolouration in the River Witham is not related to any Anglian Water asset.
“Our scientists are now working to help investigate the source of the third party discharge to help protect the overall health of the watercourse.”
