Yellow weather warning in place across Grantham area

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Grantham area by the Met Office.

The weather warning is in place from 11.30am today until 7pm.

There has already been thunder in the Grantham area today.

"Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to cause travel disruption and flooding," said the weather service.

"There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water, and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus.

"Delays to train services are possible."

They added that damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes could be possible with flooding of a few homes and businesses likely.

The agency advised that short-term loss of power and other services is likely.
