Grantham bookshop supports canal restoration project




Community Books has made a donation to the Grantham Canal Society to go towards the restoration of the waterway.

Alan Asher, of the not-for-profit bookshop in Welby Street, handed the £50 donation to the canal society's Tony Jackson.

It is one of dozens of donations made by the bookshop over the years.

Its support of good causes in the Grantham area has seen in win at the Grantham Journal Business Awards, in the Best Social Enterprise category.

Meanwhile, the restoration of the canal is a long-term project which has seen locks restored along the waterway. Volunteers are currently working on the Woolsthorpe Flight of locks.
