Siblings to complete virtual journey from Sedgebrook to Brighton in memory of father
Siblings Sian and Sam Cullington are completing a virtual journey to Brighton in memory of their late father.
The pair and their partners originally planned to raise money by cycling from London to Brighton in June in memory of their father, Tim Cullington, who passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack last January playing walking football at The Meres Leisure Centre.
However, due to the coronavirus lockdown, the ride from London to Brighton organised by the British Heart Foundation has been cancelled this year.
This has not deterred Sian and Sam from raising money in memory of their father, who was 59 years old when he passed away.
Grantham Walking Football Club, who Tim was with at the time of his death, have donated around £70 to the total.
Sam said: “We have decided to still make the journey virtually, from Dad’s home village of Sedgebrook, just outside of Grantham, all the way down to the planned finish line on Brighton beach, for the planned finishing time in June.
“Sian will be taking on the 320km by exercise bike, and, because I decided to lend Sian said exercise back to prepare for the race, I’ll be taking it on via foot.
“I’m having to rack up some miles on weekends, once daily exercises and with numerous trips up and down the stairs between Zoom calls, but I’m determined to make it and hopefully raise a few quid in the process.
“Dad always loved a tenuous reason to get competitive so would be bang on board. We are currently nearly three weeks into the 10-week challenge and have both just passed 100km.
“Our friends and family have already been extremely generous and we’ve nearly trebled our original £200 target, but the more we can raise for this great cause is just incredible.
