Results for South Kesteven District Council wards in Grantham area as local elections end
The count to see which candidates have gained a seat on South Kesteven District Council ended this morning, and the full results for wards in the Grantham area are below.
It was a night which saw the Conservatives lose the overall majority, former leader Kelham Cooke lose his seat and Independents make significant gains.
Ballot papers arrived from polling stations across the district, joining the postal votes that people began counting at around 11pm last night.
The count took place at The Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham, where council candidates gathered to hear results throughout the night.
SKDC is now made up of: Conservative - 24 seats; Independent - 22 seats; Green Party - four seats; Liberal Democrats - four seats; Labour - two seats.
The council was previously made up of 36 Conservatives, four Democratic Independents, three Liberal Democrats, four unaligned Independents, three AllianceSK, three Independents, two Labour and Co-operative and one vacant seat which was Conservative.
