SKDC preparing to reopen Grantham outdoor playgrounds next month

South Kesteven District Council have confirmed that they will reopen their outdoor play facilities from July 4.

This comes after Tuesdays's announcement from the Government which stated that outdoor playgrounds could reopen next month, along with pubs, hotels and cinemas.

These play facilities will have been sorely missed by children and families during lockdown.

Councillor Dr Peter Moseley, Cabinet Member for Commercial and Operations, said: “South Kesteven District Council is preparing to re-open its outdoor play facilities on Saturday 4 July, in line with Government guidance.

“Following further easing of lockdown restrictions we are now making preparations to open council-owned play parks across South Kesteven.

"Outdoor play and fresh air are vitally important to children and families and have been badly missed by so many in recent weeks.

“We must remember that we share a responsibility to keep each other safe and we all have a role to play in that. I would politely remind parents to take care when their children are using play equipment, particularly at this time.

“We will be displaying signs at all facilities to help remind users that the Coronavirus is still with us and we must all do what we can to prevent it spreading and avoid having to close the play parks again.”
