InvestSK to hold first skills summit in Grantham
A skills summit to bring together businesses and education providers is to be held in Grantham next month, organised by InvestSK, South Kesteven District Council’s economic growth and regeneration company.
The event, at Belton Woods Hotel on Wednesday, March 13, will be the first time InvestSK has hosted businesses and education providers to discuss ways of growing the district’s talent to better serve the needs of local employers, both now and to identify and bridge any future skills gaps.
The event is free to attend and is on between 9.30am and 4pm. It will be headlined by former MP, Neil Carmichael, who has a long-standing interest in skills, education and apprenticeships, and was formerly chairman of the Education Select Committee in parliament.
Steve Bowyer, chief executive of InvestSK, said: “A skilled workforce is fundamental to growing our local economy. Businesses need access to the right talent at the right time - and we want to make sure that talent is retained and grown here in South Kesteven. This event will open the dialogue between local employers and education providers to make sure our future talent pool is skilled and meets the needs of local businesses.”
Councillor Jacky Smith, cabinet member for communities, health, wellbeing and skills, added: “I look forward to welcoming businesses and education providers to our very first Skills Summit next month. The event forms an important part of our plans to enable local companies to harness, develop and attract talent across South Kesteven.
“This will be an interactive event with plenty of opportunity for businesses to voice their skills needs and influence the training provision delivered locally.”
Businesses, education establishments and training providers from across South Kesteven are invited to attend the event. For more details and to book your free place, please visit: www.investsk.co.uk/events
