SLIDESHOW: Grantham College plans for first phase of £52 million development

An application to begin work on the first stage of Grantham College’s £52 million redevelopment has been put forward to SKDC.

As reported by the Journal in February when an outline masterplan of the layout was approved, over the next 20 years the college aims to consolidate the nine sites it currently operates into three, located at the main campus, in Sandon Road and in Stonebridge Road, all with new buildings.

Now an application has been submitted in relation to the Stonebridge site, where it is planned the Grade II listed Stonebridge House and adjacent stable block will be incorporated with a modern building in a timber, brick and glass design.

The empty houses, workshop and social club currently at the site are to be demolished if this application is approved.

The college has already secured £2.8 million of funding from the Great Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership for this first phase. It is intended that it will accommodate a business, technology, IT, media and music centre, and that the work, if given the go ahead, will be completed by the end of 2016.
