Springfield Road has repeatedly been closed for rail bridge repairs.

The rail bridge over Springfield Road was hit once again by a lorry last night, in the middle of ongoing improvement work.

Police were called out at just after 10pm last night after a lorry struck and caused some damage to the beam, while the vehicle suffered some minor scratches. No road closure was reported, although trains were delayed while the bridge was inspected.

A spokesperson from Lincolnshire county council said that the collision protection beam which has been installed ‘did its job’ in preventing structural damage to the bridge.

They also confirmed that as planned Springfield Road will be closed for the ongoing work on the bridge overnight from 7pm tomorrow (Saturday) to 8am on Sunday.
