Campaigners organising a community purchase of their beloved village pub, are set to launch their share offer this Saturday.

In a bid to buy The Thorold Arms in the centre of Marston, and protect it from redevelopment, residents and supporters have united to set up a limited company, the Thorold Arms Community Benefit Society.

Organiser Ian Tyler said: “We are launching our share offer on Saturday, April 23 - St George’s day - very appropriate for buying an English country pub!”

There will be a meeting in the Marston and Hougham village hall from 4pm to 6pm, starting with a short presentation followed by a Q&A, looking at plans and chatting about ideas.

“Please come to the meeting where we will start to raise the money to buy The Thorold Arms and set it on its feet again to re-open as a Community Hub incorporating a pub, shop, cafe and B&B,” adds Ian. “It is important that everyone gets involved. Whether you currently intend to invest in the new business or not, we need participation, enthusiasm and everyone’s help and ideas.”
