Summer festival: Help Grantham’s Huntingtower school mark its centenary

Huntingtower Primary Community Academy has already begun celebrations of its centenary year, but the next one – on Saturday, July 18, between 11am and 3pm – is the main event and one that is open to everybody.

It will be a summer festival, complete with live music, a raffle – with a huge £500 first prize – football, bouncy castle, games, stalls and a licensed bar.

The entertainment line-up includes:

* performances by pupils in Huntingtower’s Got Talent and by the school choir

* White Noise, a guitar duet

* singer Jodie Smiles, who is coming out of retirement. Jodie, a former pupil herself, was well-known on the town’s music scene some years ago. Now she is a parent of a Huntingtower pupil and is pleased to take part.

* Jake Muffett, who has toured the UK and Europe as a Monte Verdi choir apprentice. Jake is the son of Nina Shone, a former teaching assistant who tragically died several years ago.

* Gravity FM

Tessa Sheehy is treasurer of the PTFA and one of the event organisers. She said: “We want there to be a real festival atmosphere. The festival os for the whole community and we want everyone to come along and be a part of it.

“We are super excited about this special event.”

One exciting element of the event will be the attendance of one of the oldest former pupils, at 93 years old.
