Supporters raise £365 for cancer patient Charlie Tatchell
Fund-raisers collected £365 last weekend in aid of Charlie Tatchell, the Grantham schoolboy who is undergoing treatment for a rare cancer.
Charity shop Community Books Ltd organised the fund-raiser which took place at the Church of the Ascension hall, in Edinburgh Road, Grantham, on Saturday.
Nean Asher, of Community Books, said it was a good turnout from stallholders and visitors. She said: “I would like to thank Helen Boot from Diddy Signers, ABC Entertainment, Sibyl Meadows, all my stallholders, my helpers and the Church of the Ascension.”
Nean also raised £100 on Sunday at the Dysart Park opening of the new play equipment, which she is donating back to the park for its summer event.
On Monday, at Wyndham Park’s May Day event, Nean raised £100 which will help sponsor Halloween and Christmas events there.
Asda will be holding a non-uniform day on Saturday, May 18, for Charlie’s fighting fund-raiser. Also on that day, Charlie’s Angels and others will be packing customers’ shopping from 11am until 5pm. Any cash donations can be given at the checkouts and any other donations can be given to the customer service desk or to Nicki Morton or Kim Holden.
Charlie, 14, of Wyndham Close, Grantham, is undergoing chemotherapy for six months, after he was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma. He is undergoing treatment on the Teenage Cancer Ward at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
Last week six friends raised more than £800 when they had their heads shaved in support of Charlie.
