Grantham teachers create ‘top secret’ collage and video to connect with pupils

Teachers have created collages and videos to connect with their students who are in lockdown.

Staff at The Harrowby/National Academies Trust have created a photo collage and video message for their pupils and parents to let them know that they are thinking about them during the coronavirus outbreak.

It has been a top secret mission over the last two weeks whereby over 70 of the staff at its infant and junior schools have been involved in the process.

The message, which was sent out on Friday via Twitter, ‘parent mail’, school websites and post, was a message of hope, strength, love and blessing.

A banner of the message has also been displayed on their railings outside the school to encourage passers-by.

Both Harrowby and National staff said that it was "strange" not seeing their pupils everyday and they wanted to keep their spirits up while they were staying at home.

They thought about creating the message to demonstrate that although they could not be physically together with all of their pupils and staff, they were still all connected by a real sense of belonging and family spirit.

The school is still open for children of key workers and it is also enjoying providing packs of work for pupils via parent mail, the school website, google classroom and purple mash.
