Three topless women walk through Grantham town centre to raise money for friend
Three topless women are turning heads in Grantham town centre this afternoon (Friday).
The semi-naked friends – Jen Armstrong, Jas and Ellie Grace – picked up litter to raise money for Jen’s best friend, Karrie Pavish Anderson, who suffered from a “freak” brain injury in 2018.
Karrie has since been unable to work and the three women are raising money to help pay for her medical bills in America.
Jen said: “One of my best friend’s, Karrie, had a brain injury and she lives in America, and medical bills there are insane.
“So she can’t work and she can’t really pay for her bills, so I thought through 2023, we’re going to do challenges to help her pay for her bills.”
Despite Jen and Jas coming from Yorkshire, and Ellie from Norfolk, the three chose to do this through Grantham as Jen and Jas featured in the Burning Women festival at Belvoir Castle last weekend.
Jen is hoping to fundraise £10,000 – equivalent to $12,000 – to help Karrie with her medical bills and she is doing this through a GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-karrie-brain-injury-recovery
On her GoFundMe page, Jen added: “I would like to ease this burden.
“She [Karrie] has already suffered tremendously, having to move away from her family to be closer to the medical care she is reliant on, and no longer able to write and perform music as she was doing full time before the accident.
“I have therefore set myself a year of challenges, some funny, some dangerous, some ridiculous, some outright idiotic, and hope you will be inspired as I am to help this beautiful person in her recovery journey.”
Jen has been completing challenges each month since the start of the year to raise money.
In January she did a wild swim in the mud, in February she did a three-day silence, in March she wore a onesie for a week and in April she went for 10 days with no food.
In May, Jen shaved her head, in June she did a 50-mile walk in 24 hours and this month was the topless litter pick.
Next month, she will be walking topless through a city, in September she will be walking around with no shoes and in October she will run a marathon.
In November Jen will get a tattoo and the highest donator will decide what she gets and in December, she will do a 24-hour music marathon.
