East Midlands Railways reintroduces services lines with stops including Bingham, Aslockton and Bottesford




East Midlands Railways is to reintroduce 14 services on its Leicester to Lincoln route, stops including Newark Castle and Lowdham.

The changes beginning on Sunday, May 21, will see the reintroduction of six weekdays and eight Saturday services.

The route serves 12 other locations across Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

Will Rogers, managing director at East Midlands Railway, said: “I’m happy to confirm that we will be reintroducing six weekday and eight Saturday services as part of the next timetable change in May.

“This is great news for the communities and businesses in Leicester and Lincoln, as well as the other villages and towns along the route.

“These reintroductions will bring the service in line with the previously provided frequency on the route and represents the culmination of substantial work to make sure these they can be reintroduced reliably and sustainably.”

The services to be reintroduced on a weekday are include:

  • 5.01am Nottingham to Sleaford
  • 2.38pm 6.43pm Leicester to Lincoln
  • 12.37pm and 4.34pm Lincoln to Leicester
  • 9.31pm Lincoln to Nottingham

The routes Leicester to Lincoln and Lincoln to Nottingham will include stops in Collingham, Newark Castle, Fiskerton and Lowdham.

The routes from Nottingham to Sleaford will include stops in Bingham, Aslockton and Bottesford.

The services to be reintroduced on a Saturday are the 6.33am, 7.36am, 2.42pm and 6.43pm Leicester to Lincoln and the 5.33am Nottingham to Leicester.

Also the 6.59am Loughborough to Leicester and the 12.37pm and 4.34pm Lincoln to Leicester.

Councillor Martin Hill OBE, leader of Lincolnshire County Council, said: “I’m pleased that EMR has heard our calls and decided to reinstate these services between Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

"I’m sure residents and businesses along these routes will welcome the return of more travel options across the East Midlands and I look forward to continuing to work with EMR to further improve services in our area.”
