Hays Travel to close Grantham branch

Travel firm Hays Travel is to close its Grantham branch and 88 of its other 534 shops following a review into its take over of Thomas Cook.

The Sunderland-based firm bought the collapsed company in October 2019 and deferred a review into the performance of its shops until 2021.

The Grantham branch, in the Isaac Newton Shopping Centre, is currently closed during lockdown.

A spokesman said the lease will not be renewed at the expiry of the licence period but could not say when that would be.

She added: "We are now discussing a number of options for alternative work for all colleagues. All customers continue to be looked after by staff working from home via phone, zoom, FaceTime and other means during lockdown."
