Another sighting of unexplained lights in the sky above Grantham has been made
Another sighting of unexplained lights in the sky has been made following an incident on Sunday.
Dr Jim Lewis, of Gloucester Road, described seeing an unidentified flying object above his garden around 1.15am on Sunday. He said it was a plate-shaped light of a colour similar to a green traffic light.
Following this sighting, Gary Cox, of Denton Avenue, Grantham, said he saw a similar light from his home in the area of Walton Academy.
Mr Cox said he had let his dogs out at about 10.15pm last Wednesday (August 9) when he saw a white light moving quickly from the north.
It then hovered for two to three minutes over the grounds of the nearby Walton Academy at about 500 to 600 feet. He saw green and red lights on the object.
He watched the light with his wife for a couple of minutes before it headed east about 800 yards, stopped again for three to four minutes and then moved back to its original position.
Mr Cox said the light stayed in position for another several minutes before dropping 200 feet and moving back up again.
At this point Mr Cox went to get his phone to take a photo of the object, but it quickly moved off when he took the shot.
He said: “It wasn’t anything like I had seen before. I don’t think it was a drone because it was moving too fast. It was very strange.
“It seemed to move in the blink of an eye. It was not a gradual movement. It was very fast. It can’t have been a plane or a helicopter.”
RAF Cranwell was asked if it was aware of any unexplained lights in the area recently. A spokesperson said: “We are not aware of any sightings of strange lights in the sky over the local area that you mentioned.”
