Update: Delays on A1 yesterday after firefighters cut woman free from car

Motorists faced long delays after a collision closed one of two lanes on the A1 yesterday afternoon.

Crews from Grantham and Newark attended the incident near Marston which happened on a southbound stretch of the road between the B6326 near Newark and B1174 near Gonerby Hill at Grantham on Sunday (July 2) afternoon.

A female was released using homaltro cutting gear and taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “The incident was called in at 12.12 pm. The collision was between a van and a car on the A1 at Marston. The driver of the van, and the driver and passenger of the car were taken to hospital, although injuries were not serious or life threatening. The road was blocked but re-opened at around 13.30.”
