Video: Grantham’s new Lidl store opens in front of a crowd of keen shoppers
A crowd of eager shoppers were lined up outside the new Lidl store to watch its grand opening this morning (Thursday).
The traditional ribbon cutting was carried out by Mayor of Grantham Councillor Ian Selby, introduced by Grantham’s town crier, Nobby Clark.
Before snipping the ribbon, Coun Selby, joined by mayoress Anita Selby, said: “I’m delighted to be able open the store today. I wish you every success.”
The purpose-built store, in Union Street, has a 1,286 sq m sales area and has been designed to allow wider aisles and a modern feel.
It was built as part of the chain’s UK-wide expansion programme, and includes a bakery and more parking.
A Lidl spokesmas said: “We are extremely proud to be investing back in to the community with the re-opening of our Grantham store. We’ve had a great relationship with local residents and we’re delighted to open our doors again and offer customers fresh, quality produce that is delivered to stores every day.
“Lidl, would like to take the opportunity to thank residents and locals for their support and patience throughout the duration of the works.”
