French social history course covering period between restoration of the monarchy and First World War offered by WEA in Long Bennington Village Hall
A French history course will be taught in a village hall.
WEA (Workers Education Association) is set to run a weekly course on French social history covering around 100 years.
The course will be taught on Tuesday afternoons between 1.30pm and 3pm at Long Bennington Village Hall in Main Road, starting from September 26.
The course, which covers events from the restoration of the monarchy in 1814-5 to the eve of the First World War, will run for six sessions, the last of which is on November 7.
Students will learn about the extraordinary changes and upheavals that France underwent in that period, including revolutions, a coup d’état, international conflict, and the Paris Commune.
Course fees range from free to £37.80, with more information available on the WEA website.
The level of study stated for the course is “beginners”.
