Village pub near Grantham set to reopen before Christmas
A village pub which has been closed for two years is due to open over Christmas before a full reopening next year.
The Welby Arms at Denton held a trial opening at the weekend. Jon Bell said: "Our opening last weekend was in place to identify any issues that we need to address prior to a full opening. We are also planning to open over Christmas so that the village has a place to meet in the festive season - so plans are to open from December 20 to January 1. After that, we should have a good feel for when the full opening will happen."
Mr Bell described the trial opening as 'fantastic' with excellent support from the villagers who 'seemed to have sorely missed having a local'.
The pub was staffed mainly by local volunteers (pictured). Mr Bell added: "We have also had excellent support from Bateman's Brewery, Cellartech Solutions in Melton Mowbray and Hambleton's Bakery.
"We are looking forward to bringing back this much needed facility and saving the building for the village for many years to come."
