National Trust and Woodland Trust seek new volunteers for Reconnecting Grantham project
A project that aims to reconnect communities with woodland areas is seeking volunteers.
The National Trust and Woodland Trust are working together on a joint endeavour, the Reconnecting Grantham project.
This project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, aims to reconnect communities to Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount site through the power of history, development of people’s wellbeing and nurturing nature and wildlife.
The Reconnecting Grantham project invites individuals who share a passion for nature, heritage, and community to step forward and get involved.
The project is looking to recruit new woodland welcomers, tower assistants, or guided walk leaders, who can actively contribute to Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount’s development.
Woodland Welcomers will be at the forefront of this cause, greeting visitors with open arms and sharing their knowledge of the woodlands.
These volunteers will be the friendly faces bridging the gap between visitors and the natural wonders of Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount sites.
Furthermore, tower assistants will play a crucial role in preserving the sites rich heritage.
Guided Walk leaders will lead the way in unlocking of Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount’s hidden treasures, adding an educational and informative element to the project by taking groups on immersive journeys, shedding light on the enticing history and fascinating landscape.
Aaron Benson, community development officer on the Reconnecting Grantham project, of the Woodland Trust, said: "We are thrilled to have joined forces with the National Trust on this incredible project, made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
“Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount our both treasure troves waiting to be rediscovered. Through this collaboration, we aim to unlock its potential and reconnect people with the beauty and value of nature.
“We invite volunteers from all walks of life to be part of this journey and make a lasting impact for future generations."
There will also be volunteer engagement open sessions on August 7, 9am to 12pm at Londonthorpe Woods, near the car park and the August 11, 1.30pm to 3pm at the Old School Rooms at Belton.
