Grantham travel expert says why not book a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day?
Christmas is over and we have said goodbye to another year. So that must mean it is time to start planning another break, writes Grantham travel expert Lynne Page.
Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us and what better to celebrate than booking a romantic getaway!
There are so many places to choose from apart from the obvious of Paris. From charming cities to idyllic retreats, there is a romantic getaway that you could whisk your special someone away to and create lasting memories.
You could enjoy the stunning sunsets over the whitewashed architecture and famous blue rooftops in Santorini. Imagine that as a backdrop while you enjoy a candlelit dinner in the tranquility of a charming village.
Venice has so much to offer from gondola rides along the winding canals, the historic architecture and the authentic Italian cuisine at one of the many charming trattorias, whilst sipping Prosecco or an Aperol Spritz.
If you really want to splash out then you could take your loved one further afield to one of the beautiful islands of the Maldives. Staying in a beach villa, right next to the sea, or in an over the water bungalow. Snorkel in the crystal clear waters and through the coral reefs, get pampered in the resort spa and then enjoy a private dinner on the beach.
I know I said Paris was obvious, but it really is a beautiful, romantic city and I was lucky enough to go there for my first wedding anniversary. You can stroll along the River Seine, or even take a river cruise with a special dinner. There are restaurants up the Eiffel Tower where there are amazing views of the city and the food is delicious. Or you could just sit outside a café enjoying a coffee and a pastry and watch the world go by.
Will you be jetting off with your loved one this Valentine’s?
