Adventure playground will open at Burghley House in spring 2023
Work has started on a new adventure playground at Burghley House, near Stamford.
It will be located near the sculpture garden and is expected to open in the spring.
Chief executive officer of Burghley, David Pennell, said: “Designed to capture the imaginations of children of toddler age and up, with well-considered facilities for parents and carers, we plan to deliver an amazing space for families to play together within the beauty of Burghley’s surrounding nature.
"We are thrilled to have begun work on such an exciting project and look forward to welcoming families to this new feature when we open in spring 2023.”
The equipment has been designed by CAP.Co Adventure Play and was inspired by some of the architecture at Burghley House, which appears in the latest series of The Crown.
The centrepiece will be a multi-level play tower featuring three tall spires with ‘copper pot’ roof detailing.
The structure will also include a maze of walkways and bridges, drop slides, crawl tunnels, lookout towers and balancing trails.
A refreshments kiosk and toilets will be built alongside the playground.
CAP.CO spokesman Simon Egan said: "“We are thrilled to be working with the team at Burghley - one of the greatest treasure houses in the country - to create a genuinely unique adventure play experience that is entirely inspired by the exquisite history and architectural significance of the house itself.”
A new carpark for visitors to Burghley House and parkland will also open next year.
