Yellow lines plan for Dudley Road in Grantham will cut parking spaces
There are plans for double yellow lines to be put down one side of Dudley Road in Grantham, a road often used by non-residents to avoid parking charges.
If the plan goes ahead, the double yellows will be placed on the eastern side of the road from St Catherine’s Road, in front of the Martin Court retirement homes and Dudley House School.
County councillor Charmaine Morgan said she has raised a number of objections after speaking to the school, businesses and residents. She added: “This area provides important on-street parking for residents and visitors to the vicinity.
“Restricting parking will create more traffic in Dudley Road and surrounding streets and put further pressure on Granville Street, Harrowby Road and Dudley Road on-street parking amenity.”
Satish Shah, network manager south for Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We are in the process of introducing traffic restrictions on Dudley Road and will be undertaking a public consultation in October to seek views on the proposals.
“This will provide an opportunity for residents and anyone else interested in the proposals to comment on them.
“Coun Morgan has raised concerns relating to a new development nearly. The district council, as the planning authority, has confirmed that considerations to parking were given in granting the planning approval for this development.
“Coun Morgan’s objection has been noted and will be considered, together with any other objections from the public consultation, by the county council’s planning and regulation committee before a final decision is made.”
