Met Office warns of substantial rainfall and disruptions for Lincolnshire
Residents in Lincolnshire should brace for heavy rain and potential flooding as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for large parts of the UK.
The warning, for the county, effective from 9pm today until 6pm on Sunday, highlights the risk of substantial rainfall and disruptions.
Areas could see 40 to 60mm of rain, with some locations reaching up to 100mm.
“Whilst there remains some uncertainty about the exact details, areas of heavy and at times thundery rain are expected to spread north, then west, across England and Wales from this evening and overnight,” said the Met Office.
“These areas of heavy rain may become more persistent across western areas during Sunday daytime, whilst slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop further east.”
This amount of rain, combined with recent precipitation, may lead to flooding, particularly in the southern parts of the warning area.
The heavy rain could also result in power cuts, road closures, and delays to public transport services, including trains and buses.
To mitigate the storm’s effects, the Met Office advises residents to prepare a flood kit and check their flood risk.
Drivers should expect difficult conditions and check road updates. Keep updated with evolving weather forecasts.
The warning reflects a medium impact likelihood, with the potential for significant disruption if conditions worsen.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety throughout the weekend.
