Grantham care home resident lives dream of visiting Lincolnshire Wildlife Park
A Grantham care home resident’s dream of visiting the zoo has become reality.
Residents from Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home in Beacon Lane recently visited Lincolnshire Wildlife Park.
They were able to see animals from all round the world in person and had a chance to enjoy a live bird show, where they were able to see the birds up close and watch them fly over their heads.
For one particular resident, Sheila, the visit to the zoo saw her wish come true.
Sheila loves animals and shared with the Maple Leaf team that a visit to the zoo “would be a dream come true!”
Sheila said that she was delighted when her wish became a reality.
Residents were able to spend the day at the zoo, and enjoyed a packed lunch and snacks provided by the homes hospitality team.
They also sang songs on the way home on the minibus.
Kerry Angeloni, general manager of Maple Leaf Lodge, said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their day out at the zoo.
“Trips out in the homes mini bus are a regular event for the residents, and we always ask for ideas on where they would best like to go.
“The day was a lot of fun, residents were able to pet certain animals on the day which was quite therapeutic, and we had great weather for the outing.”
Maple Leaf Lodge Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare and provides residential care and dementia care for 64 residents from respite care to long term stays.
