Sudbrook Moor Golf Club round-up
Delighted Michelle Gayton is Sudbrook Moor's Ace of the Year, having delivered the best overall card from a mixed entry of 52 players.
Over the history of this championship, Michelle is the first lady to take the title and her score of 41 points saw her two ahead of runner-up and also a previous Ace champion, John McLaren.
Playing from an index of 21, Michelle's front nine score revealed two splendid birdie twos. There was no sign of a wobble throughout and notably the steadiness over the closing holes cemented a deserved major victory.
Traditionally the Ace event is played in conjunction with March's main club monthly stableford.
Those eligible to contest the parallel championship are the lady and gent winners of the 36 qualifying competitions of the previous 12 months and there was an impressive turn-out, within the field, of 23 such winners.
The results of the 2024 Ace hierarchy from 23 contestants were: 1 Michelle Gayton 41, 2 John McLaren 39, 3 Nigel Corby 38, 4= Zoe Martin, Pete Armstrong, Haley Harding, Dan Reidy all on 36.
