Alfie Mair from Ropsley is heading to Bahrain for the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals

A talented young racing driver has secured a coveted place in the grand final of a major competition.

Alfie Mair will be heading to Bahrain after becoming the first driver to secure a place at this year's Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.

The 10-year-old from Ropsley made a commanding statement in the opening round of the 2025 Rotax Max Challenge Euro Trophy, taking the win in the junior category.

He said: "The Rotax Grand Finals is a prestigious event and winning the first ticket is a dream come true.

"I can't wait to take to the track in Bahrain and give it everything."

Alfie qualified following a debut appearance at the Wackersdorf circuit in Germany.

He adapted quickly to the fast, flowing layout and technical corners.

Despite wet conditions during qualifying and a nose cone penalty that left him ninth overall, the young British talent remained composed and focused.

Backed by SFR Motorsport, Alfie delivered a stunning performance in the eliminatory heats, finishing second, first and first which earned him pole position for the pre-final.

Despite a tough race and a start formation investigation, he kept his cool and secured second place, setting himself up for pole once again heading into the final.

In the final, Alfie led from lights to flag.

Despite pressure from competitors, his calm approach and race-craft saw him control the race throughout, crossing the line first and clinching the all-important ticket to Bahrain.

This achievement marks a major milestone in Alfie's racing career as he now looks ahead to representing the United Kingdom on the world stage in December.

The support of RPM Race Engines and On Track Marketing has been instrumental in his journey, alongside the continued guidance and expertise of the SFR Motorsport team.

Alfie started karting at an early age and among his achievements last season were top spots in the Cadet Championship and Winter Warmer Trophy.
