Grantham Town host Sporting Khalsa in the Northern Premier League
Gingerbreads boss Nathan Arnold is hoping to start seeing some solid foundations form in his relegation-threatened side.
The former Lincoln City and Grimsby Town player has continued to bolster his Grantham squad after taking the helm at the Northern Premier League club.
He handed a debut to new goalkeeper Paul Cooper on Saturday who kept a clean sheet in the goalless draw with Lye Town.
Defender Charlie Parks - who has joined on work experience from Lincoln City - was also handed his first start while the seasoned Sam Muggleton took a different role in midfield to stablise the Gingerbreads.
It helped them keep their fourth clean sheet of the season and their first since the goalless draw with AFC Rushden and Diamonds in December as Arnold looks to grind out some results in the battle to beat the drop.
He said: "We will pick a team with what we feel are the right personnel for the game.
"I probably compromised on how I wanted to play on Saturday because, if we were in a better position, you'd see open and expansive football.
"I knew that it was going to be a battle on Saturday between two teams down there who are fighting for their lives.
"Sam and Charlie's profile were perfect for the way we set up and I thought we were solid throughout.
"Sam filled his role perfectly in terms of bringing his experience and decision-making on the ball.
"I was really pleased with the back five and how we set up in a slightly different system."
Parks joins fellow Imps youngsters Denny Oliver and Gbolahan Okewoye following their arrival on work experience from the League One club and Arnold was impressed with his debut on Saturday.
He enthused: "Although he's a young boy, Charlie doesn't play young and I felt it was a really mature performance from him.
"I asked him to play in a different role which was a new challenge for him and I thought that he was outstanding.
"He was very consistent and showed maturity in his decision-making on the ball and his physical attributes shone through.
"It will do him a world of good so we're really happy that Lincoln have provided us with his services.
"I think he will only get better in this environment and being exposed to this kind of football.
"I was delighted with his performance and he can be proud of that, especially on his debut."
Cooper came in for Curtis Hall having joined on loan from National League North side Buxton.
The former Barnsley Under 21 custodian also had a decent debut despite being rarely called into serious action as Grantham dominated the game against Lye before being left to rue missed chances.
Arnold added: "He's a confident boy and we're very fortunate to have him.
"I thought that, for what he had to do, it was a clean performance from him.
"His kicking was good which gave confidence to us to be in the right positions to gain territory and be really aggressive on that first contact.
"We were really pleased with his distribution and, although he didn't have that much to do, he looked solid and assured, which rubbed off to the players at the back as well."
Grantham face a tough test on Saturday as they host fourth-placed Sporting Khalsa at the Meres.
