Harrowby United beat Wisbech Town in the United Counties League

Harrowby made an emphatic return to winning ways with a four-goal home success against Wisbech Town on Saturday.

Harry Allcock struck twice with Harrison Dee and Elliot King also on target in the United Counties League Premier Division North clash.

The victory ended a run of six successive defeats for Jamie McGhee's side who remain well-placed in mid-table in their first season back at step five of the non-league pyramid.

They faced a Wisbech side who included former Grantham players Luke Harris and Amir Ward as well as loan signings Jon Challinor and Michael Frew from Stamford.

Harrowby welcomed back Lewis Marsh and Richard Kankam into the backline with skipper Kemal Yeniberitz while David Kolapo started on his return to the club.

Challinor tested home goalkeeper Alex Smith early on but the Harrowby custodian pulled off a good save.

The Arrows were defending for large parts of the first half but, although Wisbech had a lot of the ball, they didn't create much in the way of clear-cut chances.

Harrowby were always dangerous on the counter with Lord Marfo and Scott Floyd both stretching the back four.

The Arrows took the lead halfway through the first period with a fantastic opening goal.

Jack Gurney swung in a corner which was headed to Allcock 20 yards out and he volleyed it back into the top corner to shock the visitors.

Wisbech again went on the attack but lacked the cutting edge to score.

Smith was booked for hand-ball outside of his area but the free-kick was well defended again.

Harrowby should have doubled their lead minutes before half-time as a great run again by Marfo saw him just over-hit a pass to Allcock with the goal at his mercy.

Harrowby were expecting a tough second half but, after looking the better side in the first period, Wisbech didn't really test Smith after the break and he was a virtual spectator as the home side out-fought their visitors.

They went two up with the move of the game as Floyd knocked in a ball to Kolapo who moved it onto Marfo and he squared for Dee to score.

This seemed to deflate Wisbech and there was soon a third goal as Allcock - who had worked tirelessly all afternoon - got free and, as Wisbech goalkeeper Will Lakin came out, he knocked it around him and put it into an empty net.

Harrowby then made changes and King didn't take long to make an impact as he scored a great fourth goal by picking the ball up 25 yards out and curling a shot into the top corner to finish the scoring and give the Arrows a much-needed win.

It was a great performance from Harrowby who put in a superb shift all game. They host Hucknall Town on Saturday in a match which gets underway at 2pm.
