Louis Bland is the new head coach at Grantham Town Football Club

Grantham Town have appointed Louis Bland as their new head coach as part of a new management structure at the Northern Premier League club.

Bland will work alongside current chairman Paul Rawden who is also taking on the role as director of football.

Bland has previously worked with the Gingerbreads in running their development side and has previous experience at both Sleaford Town and Hucknall where he was appointed joint manager earlier this season.

He told the club: After meeting with Paul Rawden and him telling me the plans he had for the club going forward and the role he wants me to do, it fits perfectly for me.

"The club is my hometown club and I've worked at the club before so it was a no brainer.

"I was mascot at the age of five and it feels like I've returned home. The way we want to go is bringing through local players and getting the good feeling back to the club which has been missing for a few years."

Rawden had briefly returned to the dug-out on Saturday following the departure of Steve Kirkham and oversaw a 2-2 draw with Cleethorpes Town.

He said: "I am delighted to bring Louis back to the football club.

"Having seen him progress and working with him in a senior environment within non-league, I knew he was the right coach to bring in.

"He has great ideas and principles and I feel can have a real great long term impact at the whole club so it's important to have people at the club who care for it and this club is in Lou’s heart."

Bland's first match at the helm will be away at second-placed Hebburn Town on Saturday.
