The Grantham and District Bowls Association finals are held at Knipton




Bowlers have set out on the trophy trail in the Grantham and District Bowls Association finals.

Knipton were the winners of the Hospital Bowl final after beating Wyndham Park Red 55-44 at Grantham Bowls Club.

Association president Gordon Stafford then hosted further finals at his Knipton club.

Jane Boother lifted the Ladies Hopkin Shield after a 21-13 success over Jo Dawes while Phil Edwards won the Colin Tipler Captain's Tankard after a narrow 21-20 victory over Michael Lyon.

Andrew Stafford and John Millington triumphed in Corporation Doubles after beating Holly Thacker and Daz Pachett 26-8.

Patchett though bounced back to be crowned Champions of Champions after beating Jason Lewis.

Jason McAteer, Steve Phipps and Bob Donger won the Trophy Treble after a 25-17 success over Dave Clark, Richard Wood and Peter Jordan.

There was success for Peter Sheardown in the Harry Hardy open singles after his 21-17 victory over Jason Lewis.

Richard Claxton claimed victory in the Nightingale Secretary Singles after a 21-9 win against Jane Boother.

Dave Chambers and Steven Allcorn won the Downtown Pairs following their 19-12 win over Nigel Smith and Jason Lewis.

Just one shot separated the finalists in the Australian Pairs with Kevin Atter and Steve Lamin securing a 16-15 success over John White and Ian Lord.

A similar margin of victory brought Grantham a 51-50 success against Wyndham Park Red in the Fellowship of Freedom and Reform competition.
