Grantham Town chairman Paul Rawden to leave relegated Northern Premier League club after talks with new consortium to take over
Grantham Town chairman Paul Rawden has announced he will be stepping down, just days after the club’s relegation was confirmed.
The Gingerbreads were relegated from the Northern Premier League Midlands Division at the weekend after losing at home to Wellingborough Town.
It’s been a testing season for Grantham, who last won a league game in October.
But the club announced on Monday evening that Rawden will be stepping down following advanced talks with a consortium.
The current board will remain in place to the end of the campaign to allow a smooth transition before Grantham begin life in the United Counties League next season.
A club statement said: “The club can confirm that following advance talks with a consortium of interested individuals who have been followers of the club for a number of years, the Chairman Paul Rawden has informed the board of his decision to step down to allow the interested parties to come onboard subject to the relevant checks being completed with the FA.
“The current board will support the new individuals until the end of the season to ensure a smooth handover for the new consortium to take on the leadership of this great club as it prepares for the new season at Step 5.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paul for all of his efforts in recent years and wishes him all the best for the future.
“Full details of the new individuals will be announced once everything has been completed.”
Grantham have four league matches remaining this season, starting with a trip to Corby Town on Saturday.
