Sudbrook Moor Golf Club round-up

Simon Gray is one of the most consistent senior golfers at Sudbrook Moor.

His regular appearances and steady scoring place him deservedly near the top of the weekly results and reliably in many end of season runner-up spots.

After 17 weekly attendances over this winter season, Simon is top of the reckonings in the Eclectic Order of Merit, with just a few competitions remaining.

Currently eclipsing Nigel Corby, Phil Keogh, Ian Batty and Paul McCarthy by a fraction, this might well be Simon’s opportunity to grasp the trophy which will be his first such achievement in his senior history.

The computer keeps track of Simon’s best recorded score on each of the 18 holes and that is what the Eclectic score is - a multi-round, stand alone side game that has an excitement to it, as it shows the most challenging holes for each competitor and where they need to improve.

Simon plays from an index of 14.6, and his accumulated eclectic score reveals 9 gross pars, one eagle and eight birdies, so, those pars are flagged up as a chance to card further improvements over the next month, to move from the familiar silver consolation spot to Eclectic champion.

The results of last week’s Senior Medal showed great winter form for joint winners, Mike Fox and Mark Murphy, both playing under their indexes.

Dave Harrold, Richard Cocks, Orlando Pabunan, Graham Mackinder, Andy Dunderdale and Ian Batty were within three shots of the best.

Pabunan secured the prize for the best front nine hole score and Vince Ryan the best back nine.
