Harrowby United are beaten by Kimberley Miners Welfare in the United Counties League

A disappointing afternoon for Harrowby saw visiting Kimberley leave the JRL Brickwork Stadium with a well-deserved three points to boost their relegation battle.

A goal from Paul Johnson separated the sides at the break before the visitors netted twice more in the second period through Fin Ryder and Lewis Weaver for a 3-0 success.

It moved them out of the bottom two places in the United Counties League Premier Division North while Harrowby remain in 10th place with four matches remaining.

Manager Jamie McGhee had to shuffle his side around with Harrison Dee, Tom Harris and Scott Floyd all missing.

However, the Arrows were never at the races on a disappointing afternoon and Kimberley took a 13th minute lead when Johnson capitalised on a mistake in the midfield.

Harrowby did grow into the game and Harry Allcock had a great effort that hit the crossbar.

Kimberley then had a great chance to go two up when Johnson was again clean through but his shot was put wide.

Harrowby were not really creating a lot and Allcock had a header which cleared the crossbar.

The second half could not have started any worse for Harrowby as two quick goals virtually sealed the win for Kimberley.

They doubled their lead in the 48th minute and added a third goal four minutes later before being comfortable in their defending for most of the second half.

Harrowby made changes to try and get back into the game and Issa Gaye gave them some good energy when he came on and was thwarted by a fine save from the Kimberley goalkeeper.

The visitors were deserved winners with Harrowby now heading off to an away trip to Belper United - who play at Eastwood's Coronation Park ground - on Saturday.
