Emma Bennett from Grantham takes part in the Winter Swimming World Championships in Estonia




A Grantham woman has just returned home from the Winter Swimming World Championships in Estonia where she was part of a record-breaking relay team.

Emma Bennett competed in the ICE swimming relay event which took at Noblessner Harbour in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

Swimmers from more than 40 different countries were involved in the International Winter Swimming Association (IWSA) event.

They were successful in their world record attempt for the largest group of ICE swimmers in one single relay.

In total 806 participants swam 25m each in water of around one degree celsius. The previous record was set in 2020 with 505 swimmers.

Emma also took part in the Head Up 25m breaststroke race where participants can only wear a regular swimsuit, goggles and a latex cap.

She said: "It was an amazing competition and I am now focused on training for more events in the future."

The next championships have been announced for Oulu, Finland, in 2026.
