Grantham Town travel to Gainsborough Trinity in second qualifying round of the FA Cup

Head coach Louis Bland feels an all-Lincolnshire clash with county rivals Gainsborough Trinity will provide a fantastic challenge to his Grantham Town side.

The Gingerbreads will head to the Northolme as underdogs for the second qualifying round tie against their higher level hosts.

Trinity are currently mid-table in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and have ex-Grantham players Sisa Tuntulwana and Joe Stacey in their ranks.

The Gingerbreads find themselves third-from-bottom in the Midlands Division but Bland believes there has been plenty of positives in their early season form.

He commented: "It's a fantastic challenge for us on Saturday against a higher level team and it's a bit of respite from the league.

"I have been disappointed with some of our overall results in the league but I can still see some really positive signs going forward in the performances.

"We will keep working really hard and, if we continue to play as well as we have done in terms of getting into the final third, then it will click eventually. We've also got to go and make the luck happen for us."

Grantham head into the cup clash still seeking their first league victory of the season after a 1-0 away defeat at Darlaston Town on Wednesday night.

James Rowland scored the decisive goal eight minutes before half-time to leave Grantham with three points from three draws in their opening six matches of the season.

It was a familiar tale for the Gingerbreads who have failed to score in four of their six league games this season despite handing a debut to new attacker Lewis Darlington following his switch from Spalding United.

Bland said: "I don't want to sound like I'm saying the same thing each time but it is the same thing that we need to get better at in the final third.

"Our final third entries into the box were really positive but it's the final ball, pass or shot that wasn't quite there.

"I thought we controlled the majority of the game and, although we had a little wobble at times, I don't think there was too much in the game between the two teams as there hasn't been in nearly every match this season."

The Gingerbreads lost Sidney Pereira to injury in the opening 30 minutes of the match and he is unlikely to feature at the weekend along with Rodrigo Goncalves who is struggling with a hamstring problem.
