Another convincing victory for Grantham Town Under 18s
Grantham Town Under 18s took their haul to 30 goals in the last three games with victory over West Bridgford in Division One of the Nottinghamshire Youth League.
The Gingerbreads secured a 10-1 victory after a slick and visually impressive performance from the talented young team.
With several players absent due to half-term, three Under 16 players were registered on Friday night to bolster the squad.
After scoring 20 goals in their previous two games, the young Gingerbreads were eager to continue their strong form.
They lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation and took the first few minutes to adjust to the slick, rain-dampened 3G pitch.
The technical edge was evident early on and, although West Bridgford came with a reputation for physical play, Grantham held their ground, letting their skill do the talking.
Their first goal came from a well-placed free kick by Poole, which sailed into the far corner after bouncing through the area.
With momentum on their side, Hendry-Sheavills and Price began causing problems up front, while Guest and Lewis dominated the midfield, breaking lines and feeding the forward pair.
Defensively, Grantham’s back three, along with the goalkeeper, quickly adapted to West Bridgford’s pacey number nine, neutralizing his impact for the remainder of the match.
Grantham's pressure paid off as Hendry-Sheavills and Price combined twice, each scoring two goals to secure a 5-0 lead at half-time.
Switching to a 4-2-3-1 in the second half, Grantham sought to close out the game.
With the Under 16 players stepping up, Taylor, Cahill, and Davies had impressive runouts despite the age gap.
Taylor added a goal after a smooth three-touch sequence from Greenslade to Barbuti, flicked on by Redgate, setting up Taylor for a composed finish with the outside of his right boot.
A slip on the left allowed West Bridgford to score a consolation goal but Grantham quickly responded.
Hendry-Sheavills completed his hat trick and further goals from Guest, Redgate and Gray sealed an emphatic 10-1 victory.
