Tae Kwon-Do Championships are a great success




More than 30 clubs entered students into the 12th annual Tae Kwon-Do Club Championships at The Meres leisure centre last weekend.

Special invited guests travelled from as far as Cannock, Whitby and Tamworth. Local students entered from Grantham, Corby Glen, Sleaford and Newark.

The overall winners' trophy was lifted by York Tae Kwon-Do Club.

The youngest martial artist of the day was just five years old, whilst the most senior was 64 in the executive division.

Grantham instructors Malcolm Scholes and Jill Pearce were pleased with their local successes.

Results: gold flying kicks - Troy Barber; gold speed kicking, gold flying kicks - Charlotte Lee; gold speed kicking - India Lee; silver team sparring, bronze individual sparring - Hayden Marshall; silver team sparring, silver individual sparring - David Hawkins; silver team sparring - Gordon Reeves; Junior Division 4 directional kicking gold - Daniel Ebreo, Daniel Agapito, Gorgana Gurusinghe, Hamza Khan, Ahaan Malikajun, Julia Galka, Cyprian Gacki.
