GYMNASTICS: Grantham district schools shine at county competition
Lincolnshire Secondary Schools’ Floor and Vault competition was held at Grantham Meres leisure centre last Sunday.
Local schools again shone to take some of the top spots, both in the team events and individually.
In the last few years, the girls’ titles have tended to be a battle between KGGS and Walton, and this year was no exception. KGGS managed to win the under 16 girls and Walton the under 13s. Both teams won by narrow margins of 0.4 and 0.3 points respectively above the runners-up spots
Both schools performed some beautifully executed floor routines and generally the standard of vaulting has improved considerably, becoming more powerful and consistent.
There were no teams entered in the boys’ team competitions this year, but Priory Ruskin Academy excelled themselves in the under 13 mixed event to take the top spot above Sir John Gleed, Spalding.
