Steve Kirkham has stepped down as manager of Grantham Town Football Club
Steve Kirkham has stepped down as manager of Grantham Town - after just one match at the helm.
The former Newark and Eastwood boss took charge of the Gingerbreads for the first time last weekend in their 4-0 home defeat to Stockton Town.
Kirkham had initially joined the Gingerbreads as assistant manager to Paul Rawden who had since taken on the chairman's role.
However, after a meeting with Rawden, Kirkham has decided to move away from his role with the Northern Premier League East Division club.
Rawden returned to the management helm on Saturday as the Gingerbreads moved off the foot of the league table with a 2-2 home draw with Cleethorpes Town.
Harry Olivant had given the home side an early lead which was cancelled out by Alex Flett's equaliser for the visitors.
Rodrigo Goncalves put Grantham ahead again before Curtis Bateson brought Cleethorpes level for a second time.
Rawden is expected to reveal later this week a new management structure and direction for the club following a review of the Gingerbreads’ finances since he took on the chairman’s role.
