Kesteven Ladies Rugby score 126 points in their victory over Ashfield Ladies

Kesteven Ladies recorded their largest ever winning margin on Sunday to round off a fabulous weekend for the club.

The K's crushed Ashfield Ladies 126-0 in their Women's NC 2 Midlands (North) clash at Woodnook.

Megan Alderton led the scoring with four tries while there were hat-tricks for Beth Harland, Olivia Barrett, Sam Vidler and Kerri Arlando.

Beth Parker, Zoe Osborn, Megan Jones and Amy Brumhead also crossed the line as the ladies continued the club's winning streak.

The first team had beaten Lincoln 33-28 on Saturday while the second team secured a 73-5 success over Notts Casuals as well as great results within the junior section.

For the ladies, it was a return to league action after their 12-35 loss to Lincoln in the NLD Women's Senior XV Cup.

They were aiming to build on their developing gameplay to put together a great spectacle for the on-watching crowd.

The game started well with their only drop kick of the fixture landing on the 10 metre and being regathered by Alderton who went on her first charge of the game.

The ball was offloaded but a crossing call followed and the visitors had the first scrum of the game.

The ladies were determined to improve on their performance from the week before and put into play the feedback from coaches- and they did not disappoint.

The movement of the ball consistently made its way to the wings which allowed Barrett to score early on after taking on several defenders to make her way across the line.

A series of simple hands and a lovely delayed pass to Vidler meant she was able to set off on her first trip to the try line in only her second game.

The support lines were paying dividends and resulted in every well intended run being capitalised on and mostly resulting in a score.

Becci Jones looked set to score her first try for the team but was chopped down on the five metre line which Arlando picked up and finished off.

Head coach Martyn Parker said the movement of the ball was great and the team really showed how they can get behind defences.

All in all, it was a tremendous performance from the ladies who played some lovely rugby and were able to showcase their progression this season.

They have a weekend off on Sunday but will be back in action away against league leaders Sheffield Tigers on March 9.
