Grantham boxer Learna Buff has been chosen to represent England in the Three Nations Championship
A talented Grantham boxer will be showcasing her talents on the international stage after being selected to make her England debut.
Learna Buff has been chosen to represent her country in the Three Nations Championship which gets underway today (Thursday) in Cardiff.
The 16-year-old will be going up against boxers from Scotland and Wales at the four-day event which is being held at the Sophia Gardens venue.
The Walton Academy pupil is already a two-time national champion and this selection is the next stage on her boxing odyssey.
Dad Leigh explained: "She's on cloud nine and so are we as parents.
"It was her next big dream and goal to represent England.
"There are stages to her dream and this is the next big one."
The teenager was selected to be part of the England Pathway programme following her national title triumph in March.
She has then been assessed at training camps before being chosen for the England squad.
It is a hectic time for Learna who is currently taking her GCSEs while training for her England bow.
She fights out of the New Saints Club in St Neots and coach John Boy Taylor is proud of his protege's progress.
He said: "It is beyond words to explain what we think of Learna.
"She deserves everything for her commitment and dedication to the sport and there is far more to come from her so watch this space."
Learna's next target would be the Olympic selection before hopes of turning professional.
She is also the first fighter from Grantham to represent England in a Team GB status in the modern day era.
