A father and son duo are celebrating national water polo success.
Gareth and David Lord have won the National League Men's Two Championship trophy at Eton College in London with Sedgefield Water Polo Club.
Their journey in the sport started at Grantham Water Polo Club.
Gareth, 25, started playing the sport 15 years ago and, as he is now living and working up north, has continued to play for Sedgefield senior men’s side, competing in the National League.
Three successive promotions from Division Five to Four to Three led to this success in the Men’s Two Championship.
The team were undefeated for the entire season to win this prestigious trophy and it means they will progress to the next division in September.
David continues to coach at Grantham Water Polo Club at junior level while assisting Sedgefield as the assistant coach for the men's National League squad.
He recently won East Midlands water polo coach of the year for 2023 and was short-listed to the top five nationally for coach of the year
