New Grantham Town boss Steve Kirkham who previously managed at Newark FC, Gedling Miners Welfare and Eastwood will lead his first game in charge against Premier League Division One East leaders Stockton Town

The Gingerbreads will have their work cut out for them this weekend as they take on the league leaders at home under new boss Steve Kirkham.

Stockton Town will travel to the Meres this Saturday (December 9) and will be looking to continue their fine form (kick-off 3pm) in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

The hosts currently find themselves in the bottom two of the table and it will be a tall order for Kirkham as he comes up against the top team in the competition in his first match as the man in charge.

Kirkham is well known in the area after previously managing at clubs including Newark FC, Gedling Miners Welfare and Eastwood.

A meeting before the game will take place in the bar at the Stadium starting at 12:30pm and will give the fans a chance to talk to new club chairman Paul Rawden.

Rawden recently stepped down as manager and cleared the way for Kirkham after taking over as chairman at The Gingerbreads.

The club said all are welcome to the event before the match and they hoped to see a good crowd there.

Grantham Town also confirmed that they extended a welcome to players from Colsterworth Colts who will be attending as ball boys.
