Sudbrook Moor Golf Club round-up

The seniors competition calendar is already in full flow at Sudbrook Moor with flourishing turn-outs from the Thursday morning enthusiasts.

Steve Squires will lead the Inter-Club Matchplay team which starts in March - and there will be little problem selecting six pairs from the weekly participants, for home and away fixtures, with travel to Lincoln, Boston and Gedney Hill.

The 52 weeks are packed with various events and the emerging top scoring seniors in the Orders of Merit are Paul Johnson and Ian Batty.

After two events, Johnson heads the Senior Golfer of the Year table, derived from medal round results, with Neil Stokes, Roger Newton, Yvonne Geach and Steve Furphy all in contention.

Batty is at full focus in the Winter Eclectic, comfortably clear of second placed Paul McCarthy, and then come Jim Carr, Simon Gray, Nigel Corby, Mark Murphy and Phil Keogh.

Keith Bedford enjoyed a fine round in the most recent stableford with 41 points, followed by Mark Murphy, 39, Mick Jones, 38, Ian Batty and Peter Stoneman, 37.

A share of the twos sweep went to Richard Cocks and Mark Murphy, on the third hole, and Mike Carelton, David Leslie and Stuart Minter on the 12th.
