Bottesford and District Angling Association complete their Friday Night Sweep Stake series

The Bottesford and District Angling Association's Friday Night Sweep Stake series held over eight weeks in June and July has been completed.

The last two matches were held on July 19 and 26 and the notable absence of tench this year was disappointing.

Rob Perkins weighed in 3lb 5oz 12dr to secure first place in the July 19 match with Nick Pounder coming second with 2lb 6oz and being closely followed by Paul Hallybone with 2lb 3oz.

The last match saw Perkins win comfortably with 5lb 1oz, followed by Pounder weighing in 2lb 12oz and Jamie Mills securing third on 1lb 11oz 8dr.

The winner of the series was Perkins who was presented with the Bradshaw Cup by the Bottesford and District Angling Association president Brian Cross.

A match was held at Willows Fishery, Foston, on a very hot and sunny Sunday.

The weather had the resident carp swimming all over the lake but they were elusive to catch and quite happy sunbathing instead of eating.

The match was fished by 16 anglers on Hawthorn Lake with all competing against the heat and flying ants which put in an appearance.

Paul Kimberely weighed in 67lb 5oz to win the match with Paul Hallybone being the runner up with 56lb 7oz and John Harrison completed the top three with 51lb 7oz.

The next Sunday match is on August 11 and is the Grantham/Bottesford against Collingham match to be held on the Millennium Lake Complex at North Scarle. Any angler wishing to fish this match is to book a place with the match secretary.
