RUGBY: Baa Baa’s will help improve girls’ game in Lincs

Weekend rugby union preview.

It is hoped a new county-wide under-18 girls’ rugby team, formed from current club players, will increase participation in the game.

The RFU states that girls must be registered with one of the Lincs teams to join Lincs Baa Baa’s hub, and will still be registered with their home club.

Club managers and coaches have big hopes for the Baa Baa’s and they hope to be able to provide opportunities for more girls within Lincs at under-13 and under-15 level.

Training will take place at Sleaford Rugby Club, 7pm-8.30pm, on Wednesday nights, and Lincoln Rugby Club on Sundays, 2pm-4 pm, when there are no matches being played.

The Baa Baa’s will be holding an open afternoon at Lincoln Rugby Club on Sunday, August 16, 3pm-5pm.

Girls of any age and ability are welcome to pop along. No girls will be turned away and coaches will do their best to develop everyone.
