Claire Armstrong of Belvoir Tri Club wins a medal at the Europe Challenge Long Distance Championships in Alvere, Netherlands.
Triathlete Claire Armstrong has returned home with a superb silver medal from the Europe Challenge Long Distance Championships.
The Belvoir Tri Club athlete took second spot in the 45-49 female age group category at the event in Alvere, Netherlands.
After battling an injury in the weeks leading up to the race, she was unsure how the 42.6km run would be.
However, she tackled the race head on and pushed forward on the run and gave it her all with a strong finish and a personal best for her second full distance race in 11 hours 13minutes 16 seconds.
A handful of Belvoir Tri Club members took part in the world famous Serpentine Lake event in London's Hyde Park.
There are four distances to choose from, making this a perfect event for a first time or the more experienced swimmer.
Mark Awcock and Simon Quanborough took on the two mile swim, Mark finishing in a respectable time of 01:07:01 and Simon completing his swim in 01:13:25.
Going two steps further, Dale Kitchen took on the iconic sporting challenge - the London Classics which featured the London Marathon, Prudential Ride London (100 mile sportive) and then finishing with the Swim Serpentine two-mile swim.
The challenge can be completed in any order and there is no time limit for when all three events are done.
Not only did Dale receive a medal for each event completed, but he got a London Classic accolade and will be added to the Hall of Fame.
